Anatomy is a topic I have always wanted to pursue and strengthen my knowledge of, though I have never really knuckled down properly to learn it. I had weekly life drawing sessions with a mentor for just over 4 years though we only ever focused on observation (which is of course very important). In another effort to learn more I chose to take biology in high school and take special notice when my sports coaches or physio would talk about muscles and their development. Currently I am left with a mismatched hodge podge knowledge of anatomy. It is now that I believe is the perfect opportunity to study it further as it is valuable and essential knowledge for an animator.
Goals
I hope to produce anatomical studies and gesturals like that of or draw techniques from Will Weston, Stanislav Prokopenko, Robert Liberace and Jacob Hankinson.
Other reference artists: Denis Sarazhin, Eric J Drummond, Wendy Artin, Costa Dovrezky, Roberto Ferri, Sophie Rambert
Plans
To do these studies I am unable to go to regular life drawing sessions (due to funds). I plan to do as much observational drawing in public that I can as well as drawing from references provided by platforms like Quickposes, Senshi Stock, Posemaniacs and Proko. I will be borrowing out books like Anatomy for the Artist , etc, draw copies and find relevant photographs of figure drawing models that correspond to the particular part I am studying. It would be ideal to attend a lot of life drawing sessions however I am on a tight budget.
My work
Below are some samples of relevant work from recent years. All are from life.
