Week 6: Zombies and Slackery

Updated: Oct 30, 2018

What I did

So this week was a bit slow as most work was prioritised toward another assignment due this week, I wanted to get some more work done for the Aftermath but wasn't able to come into uni to work. However, I did get some work toward my specialisation done. I've also been going through the tutorials provided by Steve on Materials and Shaders though I still haven't quite gotten my head around it. Also unwrapped most of my assets to get ready for texturing next week. I also tried using blueprints to pick things up and throw them, but I really struggled and ended up just getting back onto my assets as they had priority over the blueprints.

The specialisation work was the zombie girl pictured at the top and above left, last week I wanted to settle on a character to animate for my final project for specialisation and came up with the character above. I wanted them to have large eyes and an interesting face shape to emote.

Tutorials

https://sites.google.com/sae.edu/bne-anim-studio1/aftermath/materials-and-textures - Material and Texture Shaders: These were really great tutorials, I haven't gotten through all of them, I will have to watch some again as I still haven't quite wrapped my head around it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXNDeImnipU - Unreal Engine 4 C++ Tutorial: Pick Up, Rotate, and Throw Object Like Gone Home: A good tutorial, though I'm saving using the blueprint tutorials for after I finish texturing assets. Blueprints visual scripting screwing my head over.

What's Planned

This week I'm planning on finishing up the unwrapping and get a groove on with texturing. Once I get the assets done I'm going to give using the blueprints another go as it will be a fun feature in the environment.

Cheers,

Grassland
